Just like all other living things, trees also have ancestors, living amongst us for 1000s of years.GREAT BASIN is estimated to be more than 5000 years old. The significance of such trees in earth’s history is immense.
Poda kahani is not sure weather we will be able to find such trees here in Pakistan but we are know for sure that we have many trees living amongst us for 100s of years. We need to declare them protected and make sure they live their natural life. Here are our recommendations:
- Identifying mother trees all across Pakistan and declaring them Mother Trees and initiate a program to conserve those trees.
- Reaching council & village level to collect data on Mother Trees.
- Develop a system of collecting data of such trees and give them numbers to bring in transparency.
- Working on law to declare Mother Tree a category and deem it protected under that law.
- Create a team of volunteers dedicated with gathering frequent updates on Mother Trees all across Pakistan
- Organizing frequent events around these trees to create public awareness
- Realizing that preserving Mother Trees is as important as preserving history
- Creating a story book featuring each Mother Tree (Includes fictional elements portraying how that tree lived its life, from it being seed to a fully grown tree, what did it see, experience and how many people used to sit under it and talk to it)
- Creating collaborations between private and government entities while keeping focus on Mother Trees
